Term 1 Week 6

Central Idea : We all mature throughout life and need to take care of ourselves as we change.

Line of Inquiry this week: the things that support our well-being during adolescence

This week, we have been learning more deeply about respiratory system. We have found out a lot more information about this interesting system of our bodies. Most importantly we realised how delicate the lungs are, and so we have to take care of them and avoid breathing smoke and germs. After seeing the real lungs we now understand the danger of smoking.

After learning, we reflected on our knowledge by using the programme called Screencast-O-Matic. This programme is simply for recording the screen or video. We were able to edit the video as well. Please ask your child about this. You'll enjoy seeing these.

English: We recently wrote an information report about the Circulatory system and Ms. Cynthia gave us a lot of support. This week the writing became more challenging because we had to independently write an information report on the respiratory system. It was a challenge because were left to do it quietly without much teacher support.

The book called,'Just Between Us' is an enjoyable way to learn about building good relationships as we get older. The characters deal with the issue of keeping secrets and gossiping. These things tie in with the things we're learning about growing up.

Maths

This week, we have only had 4 out of our usual 6 Maths lessons due to Wai Kru Day. However, we have still worked hard.

Our presentations for the research project are ready to present next week. Each pair will go and visit their researched class again on either Monday or Tuesday to present their findings. In addition, Mr.Scott and Ms.Charlotte (members of the menu committee) will be joining us in Friday's lesson for the whole class to present their findings.

We have also been looking at mean, mode, median and range and how we can use these methods to find out average, frequency and difference. Year 7 have said they have enjoyed revising mean and gaining new knowledge about mode, median and range.

Next week, we are going begin to look at fraction and decimal equivalents and how to convert them. This will then allow us to move into fraction, decimal and percentage equivalence.
