Term 1 Week 3

Central Idea

We all mature throughout life and need to take care of ourselves as we change.

2nd Line of Inquiry

The things that support our well-being during adolescence.

Puberty

This week we have been learning about puberty with the Y6 class. We learned new words and ideas and wrote them in our notebooks. We learned how puberty works by watching a video and talking with friends and teachers. The new words that we learned are in the picture below.

We were scared at first to talk to our parents about puberty but now we are confident because we know that it happens to us all . We all learned that puberty is natural.

Science

This week we have been researching the circulatory system. We had to research how the circulatory system works, we also researched how it connects with the lungs and the respiratory system.

On Wednesday we cut open a pig’s heart. We split up into three groups and each group had a heart to cut open with their teammates. We had to look around the heart to see if we could see any blood vessel or any chamber.

English (EAL)

This week we learned about every country and we made a rule for EAL class. We learned about every country’s costumes. We had to draw  costumes and make questions about counties.

We learned about where other people are from and what foods they like in their countries.

We drew our hands on paper and we drew our country’s flag and wrote our country’s favorite food on the hand that we draw.

We also  had a paper for dictation with Ms.Liza, that was 10 words for every one.

Maths
This week we reviewed graphs and tally charts. We went to every class in the school to collect data about favorite fruits. Right now we are practicing place value up to billions place. It is good to practice because this is the foundation of all mathematics.
